Rhododendron For a dramatic flower show on rugged foliage, Rhododendron is the plant to choose. There are literally hundreds of named Rhododendron species and hybrids. Whether you choose the always popular small leaf PJM, or one of the showstopper large leaf varieties, these plants are sure to bring a spectacular spring show to your garden. If your desired spot for a Rhododendron is partial to mostly shaded, then we recommend the large leaf variety and while the large leaf will tolerate full sun, the small leaf Rhodo's prefer full sun and do not do well in full shade. All Rhododendrons need cool, moist, well drained organic soil and do best with winter protection. Common Name: Small Leaf
'Rhododendrom' Botanical Name : Rhododendron 'PJM Elite' 'PJM Elite' is a slightly more compact form of its predecessor 'PJM' . While it's size may be more compact, the flower show that this variety puts on surpasses that of PJM. This plant is a landscape stunner both for form and flower power. Common Name: Yak
'Rhododendrom' Botanical Name : Rhododendron x yakushimanum 'Ken Janek' 'Ken Janeck' features bright clear pink blossoms with speckled centers that fade to white. Attractive white fuzz coats the terminal buds and undersides of the foliage on compact and uniform plants. The Yak hybrids are low growing and very compact. Their small size allows them to mature against a foundation setting and not outgrow their usefulness. Foliage maintains a good green color in winter. After the flowers pass, new growth emerges as silver shoots and contrasts nicely with the foliage. They will adapt to sun or shade but are noted for their ability to tolerate full sun. Handsome enough to use as a specimen and unique enough to create an interesting accent. An excellent choice for any garden. Matures 2-3' tall x 3-4' wide. Hardy to Zone 5. |
