Weigela

Few shrubs can match Weigela's magnificent floral display. In late spring, their arching branches are covered with crimson, pink, or white funnel shaped blossoms that almost hide their leaves.  For the rest of the growing season, these shrubs become a graceful, green foil to other flowering plants.  Planted among summer-blooming shrubs, they can provide a flamboyant color splash in the spring, and then serve as a lovely backdrop to the summer flowers that follow.

Common Name: 'Fine Wine' Weigela
Botanical Name : Weigela florida 'Fine Wine'

This dense, compact, round selection is worthy of the Proven Winner title it carries. There is nary a care in the world when you grow this little beauty that takes on a neat, Spirea-like mounded shape with dark burgundy foliage that is smaller than 'Wine & Roses' and more tightly packed on its branches. Loads of deep pink flowers are sparkled generously throughout the foliage from late May through June making this plant even more irresistible. 'Fine Wine' will age beautifully in the landscape as a small space, foundation plant, in a perennial border, or group to form a stunning low border in a bright sunny area.

Matures 2-3' tall and 2-3' wide.               Hardy to Zone 4

Common Name: 'Ghost' Weigela
Botanical Name : Weigela florida 'Ghost'

When 'Ghost' flushes in the spring, its foliage looks like that of any other nondescript Weigela sporting a medium green color that facelessly blends into the rest of the green landscape. Dark red flowers appear in late May in abundance to attract local butterflies and hummingbirds with their striking color and tubular shape, but the real show begins after its bloom has passed. As the summer progresses 'Ghost' sees its bland foliage magically transform to iridescent, ghostly, butter yellow. It's a metamorphosis that few plants can match and one that will change this former wallflower into the star of the summer garden. 'Ghost' even reblooms from time to time in the summer, adding more color to any sunny or partially shaded area.
Matures 4-5' tall and wide.                         Hardy to Zone 4.
Common Name: 'Tango' Weigela
Botanical Name : Weigela florida 'Tango'

This compact form, superior spring bloom and a forgiving, easy care nature are all compelling the reasons why 'Tango' is a such a great choice for your landscape. 'Tango' is one of the original dwarf Weigela with tight branching and big, tightly packed, purplish foliage that makes for a dense, leafy mound that is perfect for a small, sunny garden spot. Groups of buds appear along and at the ends of last year's growth and open up to 1" long tubular flowers with yellow throats from late May to late June, putting on a show that will make this dense little gem shine. Adding to the flower color will be colorful visits by hummingbirds that love the flower form, color and nectar content. 'Tango' is tolerant of most soil types, is pest free and very easy to grow. Use it in small spaces, grouped to form a neat low hedge or in a container mixed with perennials and annuals for a great show.
Matures 24-30" tall x 30-36" wide.                    Hardy to Zone 4
