Japanese Maple Variety, versatility and year round beauty secure Japanese Maples a seat of honor in gardens around the world. They take innumerable shapes offering every possibility of form: dwarf, upright, mounding, rounded, weeping, spreading, and vase. At maturity, they reach heights from two to over thirty feet. Most cultivars thrive in full sun, others prefer open shade and some do well in any degree of light in between. The very few points on which Japanese Maple cultivars agree are an ease of maintenance, a resistance to most diseases and pests, and an aversion to wet soils. Common Name: Japanese
'Maple' Botanical Name : Acer palmatum 'Trompenburg' If you're looking for a Japanese maple that is a little different and a lot beautiful, 'Tropenburg' is the plant for you. There certainly is a huge selection of Japanese Maples varieties available, but none with the unique foliage of 'Trompenburg', featuring long, deeply lobed leaves with the leaf edges curled slightly under, giving each leaf the appearance of a small hand. It's a striking look made even better by a collage of color displayed throughout the year by the foliage, starting deep red in the spring followed by an interesting red mottled green in the summer and closing with a deep fantastic crimson red fall foliage show. 'Trompenburg' is an outstanding small specimen whose form, color and texture you will enjoy for years. Plant in full sun or partial shade and give it some room to spread to its full glory. Matures 15-20' tall x 20-25' wide. Hardy to Zone 5. |
