Common Name:  'Gay Feather'

Gorgeous spiked flower native of the American prairie. This more compact cultivar forms low grassy clumps which produce 2 foot tall spikes of mauve blossoms that reoccur from July to September. Naturally adapted to meadow gardens and a butterfly habitat plant. Equally at home in mixed perennial borders, and as long lasting cut flower. Prefers well drained soils, particularly in winter, and full sun.

Matures with moderate growth to 2' tall and half as wide.      Hardy to Zone 3
