Impatiens -
(Busy Lizzie*, Balsam)
*We didn't know that
one of the common names of Impatiens was 'Busy Lizzie' either until
researching for this web page!
Impatiens provides
brilliant color in the shade where few other flowers thrive. Unlike with
most flowers, you never need to trim off spent blooms to tidy up the plant
and promote longer flowering. As long as you give them plenty of water,
impatiens will bloom magnificently from spring until frost.

Common Name: Impatiens
'Accent Series'
Botanical Name :
Impatiens
walleriana
The
'Accent' series of impatiens are an impressive group. They are
uniform across the whole series with the growth habit being very compact
and height varying little from color to color.
The flowers are large and they cover
the dark green foliage with ease. 'Accent' Impatiens have a very
long flowering period, from spring until the early frosts. This is
wonderful for a bedding plant to give so much color for such a long time.
Plant in a shaded spot, as opposed to full sun. They will grow in the sun
but the flowers will be smaller. This variety does not need to be pinched
as it has a naturally branching habit.

Common Name:
Impatiens
'Super Elfin Series'
Botanical Name :
Impatiens
walleriana
The ‘Super Elfin’ varieties of Impatiens are the one of the earliest
flowering and very consistent across the color range. Better branching and
improved "flower power". The 8 to 10-in. plants are covered with masses of
blooms, creating outstanding displays in your garden or containers. This group of
Impatiens was bred by Claude Hope in Costa Rica. Mr. Hope developed
this species from its native wild form. 'Super Elfin' is probably
the most recognized species of Impatiens
and
one of the most popular bedding plants in the world.
