Blue Holly These evergreen
shrubs offer a wide variety of growth habits, foliage and fruiting
tendencies. Male and female plants of compatible varieties need to be
within reasonable range for maximum fruit set.
See also Winterberry for the verticillata
species of the genus Ilex. The Blue Hollies are so named because the
dark green foliage has a blue overcast. The bark on young twigs is
purplish. Although the plants are fairly hardy, foliage can still be
injured during severe winters. Back to Trees & Shrub Page or Close Page to Return to Lawn & Garden Home Page Click on Image to Enlarge |
