Fothergillia

In mid-spring, Fothergillas present a picture of quiet beauty decked out in bottlebrush-like clusters of sweetly fragrant, white flowers.  There is nothing subtle about their fall foliage show, when the broadly oval to near circular leaves change to a luminous orange, red, and yellow tones. Fothergillas have two seasons of special beauty, but they are always good-looking plants worthy of prominent positions in the landscape.
