Improved McIntosh that ripens about two weeks later than its parent. If that waiting period doesn’t bother you, and if you like the rich aroma and fine texture of the McIntosh, you’ll adore Cortland. Large handsome, dark red fruits. Melting, fine-grained and juicy flesh. Positively superior as a dessert quality apple..

Another apple developed to beat McIntosh, and it does. Ripens later, keeps better. Medium to large fruit, dark red over green background. A high quality, all purpose apple. Ripens September.    


Common Name: Dwarf 'Apple Tree'
Botanical Name : Malus   'Wolf River'

This apple dates to 1881 in Wisconsin, so it has survived more than a century virtually unchanged. Not only some of the largest apples you’ll see, but their flavor is mighty good. Used mostly for baking and pies and is excellent for drying. Ripens from mid September to early October.
