Andromeda

If you like the look of Lily of the Valley or Bleeding Heart then Andromeda is for you!  This plant should be planted in a shady spot because most Pieris planted in full sun are usually covered in lacebugs.
WARNING
The foliage of Japanese pieris is toxic to livestock and probably people as well.

This superb selection has something different to offer throughout the growing season. Early May sees this plant loaded with long strings of flower buds that open to a sea of white, obscuring the plant. Flowers are sterile leaving no seed heads to obscure the view of leathery, medium green foliage and a dense rounded form that is perfect for foundation use or in groups in border areas.

Deep brick red buds open to white flowers on this compact evergreen shrub with light green new growth and glossy dark green leaves. It will hold the attractive flower buds through the winter and is tolerant of more sun than most Pieris.

Matures 6-7' tall x 6-7' wide.     Hardy to Zone 4

Scientific Name : Pieris japonica 'Dorothy Wycoff'

The deep pink flower buds of 'Dorothy Wycoff' are carried on red stems and open to reveal pink tinged, white blooms that almost obscure the deep green foliage in April. The foliage turns bronze in winter on these compact, well branched plants.

Matures 4-5' tall x 4-6' wide.     Hardy to Zone 5.
